Have you ever questioned why Monday has the appeal of a fresh start to a new week of potentials and endless possibilities? I guess not. Wednesday comes with a “hump-day” attraction, and Thursday is packed with a “pay day” attraction and promises of the seemingly unending weekend. But Tuesday?
It turns out Tuesday is the most productive day of the week for getting things done especially at work. Recent study and human-resources based research revealed that it is the day when most people are working at their peak and accomplishing the most.
Working long hours to make every other day as productive no longer seemed to be enough, with the constant rise in the need to create as much value from every hour of work.
Being effective with time has risen to a new level of importance and here are some useful tips that can be adopted to make every workday a “Tuesday”.
- GET UP EARLY.
Get up early to avoid playing catch-up all day. The amount of work (and the quality of it) that can be achieved between the early hours of the day is incredible.
It is also important you don’t just work, but aim to bring a task to completion.
- SET ASIDE TIME FOR SOCIAL MEDIA AND CHATS.
Use of media, communication and human relationship are important part of your time at work. However, it’s necessary to create boundaries, so that you don’t spend all your day in your inbox and on pages. Ineffective use of these is the great robber of your time at work.
- NAIL PROCRASTINATION.
Procrastination is a natural human behaviour which occurs when we do work that we’re not connected to. Pay attention and focus on only productive activities relevant to the day’s work.
- SET CONCRETE GOALS.
The World is obsessed with short-term feel-good remedies. This must be in reverse to achieve success and productivity at work. Set SMART goals for the week (as a part of your strategy for the month) and work towards them.
- SCHEDULE YOUR DAY THE NIGHT BEFORE.
Waking up without knowing what’s on the to-do-list makes you more susceptible to doing what you feel like. And most times you feel like checking out your WhatApp, doing whatever pops into your head first, or just sleeping a little more. A well written agenda for the day the night before, makes you wake up feeling like a dart aiming for the bull’s eye.
